A Quick Word On Fake Eyelashes.

Fake Lashes

My first attempt

I have always admired women who wear fake eyelashes. When I lived in Japan I was in awe of Japanese girls who wore them every single day. The reason was simple: I was not able to apply them. I watched a number of youtube tutorials, I asked my friends and I still couldn’t do it.

I finally managed this weekend! I went to an event where I wore Victorian clothes and I thought that fake eyelashes would make my outfit complete. After about an half an hour I managed to put the damn things on. What’s even more impressive I wore them 3 days in a row. My conclusions:

1) They are difficult to apply. Even on the third day it took me well over 20 min to apply them.

2) They are not comfortable.

3) I take my hat off to all the girls who apply them on a daily basis and those who apply them after they their eye makeup and manage not to mess anything up!

As I was going for a glammed-up look I got Eylure Naturalites Ultra Glam Lashes (107) from Boots for £5.35. Next time I will probably go for something more natural.

Do you have any advice on how to buy, apply, or wear fake eyelashes?

I can’t wear them and I’ve tried – believe me, I’ve tried. They just won’t go on straight.

I think it helps to apply eye liner…and to keep the other eye open as you apply it…right???

I can’t apply them either, no matter how natural looking they seem to be. I opted for a lash growing product and now two coats of mascara make me look like I have false lashes (even without mascara, my lashes look nice.), so I’ve given up on the attempt, even though I think they look great on certain people. I think they’re easier if someone applies them for you. I love eye make-up, but this is one thing I’ll probably never be able to master successfully.

I’ve always had the same problem as you when it comes to eyelashes, now though I cut my eye lashes in half. They pop on easy peasy, look completely natural, don’t feel heavy or irritate my eyes and they last ages as you can use the other half again x

I’m so bad at this – my eyelashes get in my way too! These look beautiful on you!

I’ve been thinking about trying a pair; in going to the MAC counter for my first pair/lesson.

I wear false lashes on a daily basis. I actually went from a zero skill at putting it on to suddenly knowing how to. But it’s still pretty time consuming. I spend 30 minutes on a full face of makeup, and 15 just getting the lashes on.

Try Ardell’s Demi Wispies for a more natural look. 🙂

If you find any good times, don’t hold back! I need to learn REALLY FAST how to apply them because I’ll be applying false lashes on other people in a couple of weeks to encourage them to buy the Paperself Lashes that I just added to my shop. And since these lashes are made of paper, it’ll be different than applying regular fake lashes. I don’t know what I’ve get myself into! Haha

Wow, that’s exciting. Your shop is doing well then. Do you have a boutique or just the online store? Do you ship to the UK?

I just have the online shop for now, but I’m actually taking some of my products to a big festival in Amsterdam towards the end of the month. And I was going to offer to apply some of the lashes on girls if they bought them and wanted to put them on then and there. And yep, I do ship to the UK 😉 I’m looking for more products to add to the shop. Eventually I’ll open a real shop in the U.S. cuz zat is my dream 😀
