Review of Living Nature Balancing Day Lotion and Night Gel

Living Nature is a natural and organic brand from New Zealand. In the UK you can purchase their products in health food stores and online stores such as My Pure (here) and Naturisimo (here).

Living Nature Balancing Gel and Lotion

This is a bit of a rediscovery for me. I got this duo back in March 2012. I first got a sample of the Active Manuka Honey Night Balancing Gel with another purchase. Naturisimo offers you the change to order up to 5 selected samples with every purchase (I really like this store). I liked how the gel made my skin look and decided to go ahead and purchase it along with the Manuka Extract Day Lotion.

Both products contain 100% natural ingredients. They don’t contain any artificial preservatives such as parabens. They are naturally preserved thanks to a combination of antimicrobial ingredients. New Zealand’s famous Manuka Honey, one of the main active ingredients, has strong antibacterial properties (stronger than the tea tree oil). It also has anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties which is why it’s good for acne-prone skin. Both products have fatty acids and vitamin C that help to prevent wrinkles and signs of premature ageing.

The Night Balancing Gel is supposed to restores vitality while promoting clear skin and stimulating vascular health. I strongly recommend this product. It’s a light yet moisturising gel that really regulates sebum production. They are both really light and easily absorbed although the Day Lotion is a bit more creamy (see photos to see how they look). The best thing about this duo is that it really helps to control sebum production. These products do not make your skin matte straight away. They work on a deeper level and make your skin less oily over time. But they work really well and help the skin produce less sebum.

However, you need to be careful. In the winter, when it’s cold outside and the heaters are on, the skin can easily get dried out. When I got the two products in March I started using them both every day. This was not a good idea. My skin got a bit too dry. I think for optimal results I would advise to use them every two to three days or only use the Night Gel, which I feel is the better product of the two. According to my dermatologist, people with oily skin shouldn’t really use nourishing nighttime moisturisers as they clog the pores. At the same time, night is the perfect time to replenish your skin and protect it from aging. Therefore I switched to anti-aging serums and this light balancing gel. I have been using these products again recently and discovered that they work really well when it’s warmer outside and the skin isn’t so sensitive and demanding. Both products are very watery and a little goes along way here. They will last for a while!

This duo is perfect for people with really oily skin who want to use less of mattifying makeup products.

Balancing Day Lotion is £19.60 and Balancing night Gel is £32.30, both available from Naturisimo.
